AudioCore 8.61 Download and Installation

Posted by | July 02, 2010 | | 20 Comments

Just a quick note – I had a phone call from a customer in America (who was kind enough to be up at 3:15am this morning to receive his call back – thanks John) who’d downloaded AudioCore and had an error message about a corrupt “.cab” file.  Turned out the file on the server was damaged, so it’s been replaced and all’s well.

If you’ve had a recent issue trying to upgrade and seen this, apologies, and it’s now fixed 🙂

Bet you’re all gagging to hear about our conquests on the high seas…well, it wasn’t quite the Atlantic, and you’ll have to wait a little longer… 😉

Hi Xavier, please email me at waring(a)xta.co.uk – latest release of AudioCore will control your DP428, but it would be best to update it to the latest firmware and turn it into a DP448 – they are the same unit.
      Thanks,
      Waring

You can run AudioCore on a mac under Parallels or similar – we have a TechNote on how to do it here:

Our customer who compiled this information is happy to answer any questions you might have about it as well.

    Hello,
Recently, I installed XTA Audio Core V8.91 on my lap top with windows 10. Now I have a problem, lap top and crossover (DP448) cannot communicate. Problem is communication port (com port cannot be opened). Do I need some drivers, and do you know where I can download them? Im using RS485 to RS232 converter. Also, on lap top with windows xp, everything works fine. Thanks in advance

Hi Nikola – sorry to hear you’ve been having some problems with Win10 – if you can see your USB adapter in Device Manager, then the first thing to try is to change the COM port number.

      1. Open the Device Manager by pressing the Windows Key + R. Type “devmgmt.msc” and press Enter.
      2. Expand the Ports (COM & LPT) section.
      3. Right-click the COM port and select Properties.
      4. Click the Port Settings tab and click Advanced.
      5. Change the COM port number to an available COM port number.
Don’t worry if all the ports are “IN Use” – this is rarely the case and is a Windows bug. Choose a number less than 12 (AudioCore only works up to COM 12), and then
restart AudioCore and in the Remote menu use this new COM port number.

Hi Guys, I’ve recently been hired as the head of audio for a venue in Miami/Ft Lauderdale that is running XTA DPA226’s. I recently bought a windows 8.1 64 bit computer, 200ft of RS232 cable and a RS232 to USB converter. From what I can tell, I should be able to link to the devices from FOH with these components. Is there anything else I should add to the chain in order to configure the COM ports properly? I plan on linking 226’s locally inside the rack via RS485. Am I missing anything? Thanks for your time.

      Hi Johnny,
You should have everything you need there, yes. I would recommend you don’t start with the 200ft of cable and get things working with something a bit shorter! What brand of USB converter did you buy? Our recommended one for this purpose is the Aten UC232a, whcih you can get on amazon for about $20. AudioCore runs in 8.1 OK and the drivers for the USB converter should be OK too. Hopefully you’ve got a copy of the 226 manual and consulted the section on connecting remotely, but it’s probably a little out of date now, and what’s in the AUdioCore manual is more useful for you (although it will be referencing an earlier Windows version that the brief “8” period).
This would be the useful section for you:

If you come up against any problems, please just contact us – better by email to be honest as comments on here sometimes get auto-spammed – waring@xta.co.uk will always get answered.

      Cheers,
